How to complete a 4-square for a Reading Counts book
Take a look at the example below.  You must complete each part to receive credit for your paper.

This is the complete paragraph that should go on the back of your paper.  Use transitions if you need to make your ideas flow better.

If there were someone's photo next to the dictionary definition of loser, it would be Zinkoff's.  To begin with, when Zinkoff wore his favorite giraffe hat to school, a bully took it from him and stomped it into the ground.  Later, he tried so hard to be a hero, but he shivered nonstop as he searched for the lost little girl.  But no matter what happened, "Yahoo," he yelled, whenever he was happy or excited about anything.  Zinkoff had his hat crushed, and he trembled in the cold darkness, yet he yipped in happiness even when others thought he was a loser.  Zinkoff was no loser, but a true winner after all, because he had happiness, the most important thing in the world.

In the middle, write the name of your book, and a hook.  A hook is a sentence that gets the reader's attention to make them want to read what you have to say.

Remember to chose three vivid or action verbs.  Write your sentences using those verbs.  They are in red above.

The restatement is simply repeating the same three ideas, but in one sentences and using different verbs that have the same meaning as your first three.

The clincher is the wrap-up sentence.  It should be a sentence that makes the reader know that you are finished with your paragraph.

Be sure to write your complete paragraph on the back of your paper.
