An Example of 4-Column Notes (for Parts of Speech)
Fold your paper in half long-ways, and then fold it in half again.  Open it and set it up like the example below.

Part of Speech (Write the name of each part of speech in this column being sure to space them down the entire length of the page. There are 8 basic parts of speech.)

(This box is for the definition which can be found in your Write Source 2000 beginning on page 719.)

Examples
(This box is for the examples given in the Grammar Rock video.  If you were absent, then use your Write Source 2000 for examples. Write at least five.)

Sentence
(Use this box to write a sentence featuring the part of speech.  Use a hi-lighter to identify the part of speech you are showcasing.)
Noun A person, place, thing, or idea

principal, Palatka, school, pride, table

The principal of Jenkins Middle School has great pride in our school.
Verb Words that show action or state of being

run, am, said, yell, scream

"I am late!" he yelled as he ran down the street
Adjective words the modify nouns or pronouns

tall, dark, ugly, blue, funny

The tall, dark, and ugly man wore a funny blue hat.
Do not copy these examples on your paper you plan on submitting for a grade.  Make up your own examples and sentences for the Parts of Speech already listed above, and then complete the rest of the Parts of Speech 4-column notes.
